Why is the program being discontinued?
Walgreens Rewards is a pilot program that is currently operating in a selected number of stores. We're in the process of designing a new program that will be the largest, most exciting retail rewards program in the marketplace. Discontinuing the pilot program is essential to make the necessary enhancements.
When will the program be discontinued?
Program discontinuation will occur in two phases:
Effective January 1, 2012, program cards will no longer be required to receive the sale prices for items featured in our weekly circular. Coupons featured in the weekly circular will be required at checkout to receive the discount.
Further, on January 1, 2012, we will no longer issue points for purchases made.
Points earned must be redeemed by January 31, 2012.
What should I do with my program card and key tag?
Cards and key tags will be deactivated effective January 1, 2012, at which point they can be discarded because they will no longer work in our stores.

the Walgreens Rewards program will be available in the test areas of Richmond VA, Kansas City MO, and Portland OR on 05/09/10. If you register here, they will notify you when the program is available in your area.- any family member who shops at Walgreens should sign up for an account. Family members can link their accounts and pool their points together.
You must be 13 years of age or older to participate in Walgreens Rewards - When making a purchase, present your card to the Store Associate or Pharmacist at the beginning of the checkout process to earn points. if you forget to use your card at the time of purchase, you can Log in to your WalgreensRewards.com account and click on the "Look Up My Transaction" button at the bottom of the page.

it has been reported that points are only earned on your oop amount and only for whole dollars.
so if you spent $.99 after your rr and coupons were deducted, you would not earn any points! if you spent $1-$1.99 oop, you would earn 10 points, etc.
State and Federal laws exclude some items from earning points. - 100 points are earned for every eligible prescription
300 points are earned for every 90-day eligible prescription
Prescriptions paid for in whole or in part by a federal or state health care program are not eligible for points. - "Bonus Point Promotions" may be offered which will award additional Walgreens Rewards points with purchase of certain products. Bonus point promotions will not apply to rain check items.
